What are the Kingdom Assignments?
Kingdom Assignments began in November 2009, when Pastor Brian Wallace preached on the Parable of the Talents. At the end of the service, volunteers of all ages, including youth and children, were asked to take $25, $50 or $100 and multiply it through their own creative efforts for the Kingdom through January 2010. FEFC members were able to grow the original $7,000 into over $37,000. "God was up to much more than multiplying money," said Pastor Brian Wallace. How will the funds from Kingdom Assignments Part 1 be used?
After hearing from participants, FEFC church leadership decided the funds will be used at Odom Elementary, a local school where many children in our Hispanic Ministry attend.
- Funds will be spent at the direction of a “partnership steering committee” chaired by pastor Omar Argumedo and is made up of participants representing different ministry areas of our church, including our Hispanic ministry, Nueva Vida.
- The committee will work with the Principal, PTA and any other organizations to assist and coordinate with efforts that are already going on.
- Special attention will be given to exploration of projects involving the physical plant (teacher work room, library, and general maintenance) as well as English education, tutoring, Saturday camps after school programs and the like – all with a heart to involving people from FEFC in an on-going way.
- A goal of the project is to be a tangible expression of the love of God and earn the right to make a verbal proclamation of the Gospel as broadly as possible. Again, this will require on-going participation from the people of FEFC.
- Some of the funds could be reserved in order to fund a community outreach
Kingdom Assignments Part 2
Part 2 of the Kingdom Assignment Project was initiated February 28, 2010. Pastor Brian Wallace preached on Mark 10: 17-31, inviting everyone to live their life for the Kingdom. He challenged each congregation member to sell something worth $100 that could be used for the Kingdom both here and abroad.
